Sargents Pies is working again with Scott's Refrigerated Freightways for both cold storage and transport with the iconic NSW based pie maker recently signing a fresh, 1 year contract, with a possible 12 month extension.
Sargents General Manager David Van Zyl decided AHG RL's fully integrated refrigerated storage and logistics provided the best overall solution for his company's high volume, time critical cold transport needs.
Jeff Paddison, AHG RL business manager responsible for the pie company said: “They needed an end to end supply chain - cold store pick and pack locked in with national line-haul transport, and only Scott's offered all the elements they wanted."
This comment underlines how AHG RL's cross dock facilities and upgraded scheduling management abilities were critical to successfully reclaiming the all of the Sargents' refrigerated logistics business.
Key factors included accurate easily reported POD's and the ability to efficiently schedule high volume demand peaks around traditional events such as football finals with products held back in AHG RL cold storage for up to two weeks. Management of these requirements has now been simplified with the CapCargo roll out across AHG RL companies.
Jeff summed CapCargo's importance saying: "It has given the business more transparency into each of our depots, allowing better fleet utilisation and POD scanning on demand removing the very slow process of manual paper trails".
Andrew Le Lievre, AHG RL Head Of Commercial added: "Sargents integrated cold logistics package sets a template for our future business development, showing how we can better leverage our cross dock infrastructure and new systems capabilities.
